How to change a baby's nappy...

This can seem like the most simplest thing to people, and in some cases it is, but to some people it could be tricky.

I will give you the two different methods for changing nappies, one for a boy and one for a girl.

For a boy:

Make sure you wipe between the bum cheeks as well as around the testicles and over and around the penis. NEVER pull the foreskin back. This area is self cleansing so you do not need to clean inside it. The foreskin should never be pulled back as you could tear it and damage it. It is still very tight and it will only need to be pulled back on when the boy is through his toddler years.

For a girl:

Make sure you wipe away from the vagina and not towards it. You should never wipe from the anus up as germs from the anus can go into the vagina and cause an infection. Also NEVER wipe inside the vagina lips as this area is self cleansing and does not need to be cleaned.

Make sure you NEVER leave a child unattended while you are changing them as they might fall off the changing table. Don't think that it could never happen to you because it could.

Once you have finished cleaning the dirty area of the child, apply a thick amount of ointment / barrier cream onto the area as this helps prevent nappy rash.

Once the child is changed, WASH YOUR HANDS! If you don't, you could get a serious bacterial infection.

Where to begin...

I discovered my passion for teaching children while I was studying Theology after High School.
I actually babysat in order to pay for my studies, and that is how I figured out what was staring me in the face my entire life... I Love Kids!
I don't have any children of my own yet, but I'm still young so I don't worry too much about that. I know the time will be right when I do have them.
Make no mistake, I spend enough time with kids to have the confidence to know what I'm talking about. I just completed an Aupairing course through Cape Peninsula Child Minders Association. I will be doing my exam on the weekend and once I have my certificate I will be able to start Aupairing.
Any person can look after an infant or young child, but it takes a dedicated person to really take a sincere intereset in the little person. Because that is what they are, little individuals. It is not good to just shunt them around to do whatever you want or to take out your frustrations on them. You need to remember that you are responsible for raising an adult because that is what they grow up to be, either confident in themselves or emotionally damaged individuals.
